Harrison turned 6 this past July, which technically means he should be in 1st grade, but I made the (very difficult) decision to hold him back one year. I really felt this was the best thing for him, I'm glad I did, but boy was he ready to ride the bus this morning! He was awake and dressed (including his backpack) at 6:30 this morning. I made some delicious apple cinnamon muffins for his first day of kindergarten. After 2 hours of waiting, it was finally time to head to the bus stop!
3 of the best kids around...
Did I mention Harrison got glasses? I took him in for his kindergarten eye exam and turns out the kid can't see!! Oops... Sorry Harrison!!
Headed to the bus stop on a misty morning.
Look at that grin!! He's been waiting years for this!
When he got home today I asked him what his favorite part of kindergarten was- "Riding the bus!!" he said, I should have guessed!

He looks so cute and grown up... and she is so beautiful.
What a fun time.. But a bitter sweet time for Mommy....As I look back, (way back) it was just a great experience to watch them grow and move on to new things...
Hope your feeling that way Amber.
Fun!
I saw your picture on your mom’s blog and you were getting ready for school taking pictures with Henry ,and then waiting for the school bus. I was reminded of when I was waiting for school to start.
I just lived ½ a block from school so I just walked down the street and didn’t get to ride a bus like you.
I loved school and especially spelling and math.
In the summer we had summer school, but it was really a fun thing to keep us busy... I took tap dancing, and drama. I loved to dance and tell stories (that was what we did in drama class was memorize little stories and act them out)
I learned to tap dance a little we always had a summer program at the end of summer and I remember once when I was about your age my Mother made me a long ruffled skirt and I was a Spanish dancer...
Because we lived so close to school all the neighborhood children would gather at the school and play games, like hide and seek, run sheepy run, and kick ball on the front lawn of the school. Pretty soon as it got dark someone’s mother would call and we would all go home. Do you play on your big lawn in the back of your house with other children in your neighborhood ?
I hope you let your little brother play with you after school, so he doesn’t feel too bad when you are both gone.
I’ll think that Henry will have a good time with your Mom at home and he will be a big helper when the new baby comes.
Have a fun school year and if you get time write me a letter, or send a drawing.
