At Maya's request

Maya has afternoon kindergarten, which I LOVE for her, it fits perfect with our routine. However.... she comes home absolutely famished, she'll storm in the house and fling open the pantry doors, looking for anything and everything to eat. I figured I'd better give her something more substantial for lunch before she heads to the bus stop. Her request today? Homemade miso soup with lots of tofu, wakame and bonito flakes. She was in heaven and ate two bowls full. She also polished off two pieces of cinnamon toast, let's hope it tides her over until 4!

Thanks La Fuji Mama for opening my eyes to the deliciousness of wakame and bonito!! You're the best!

Wow, she has a sofisticated palate. (probably spelled that wrong, sorry)

I used to love miso soup for breakfast in Japan. Except we would add tons of vegetables; pumpkin, mushrooms, some sort of turnip (can't remember what it's called), potatos, carrots, whatever we had. Yum!

I can't imagine anyone in my family touching it besides me though. Too bad.

I don't think there's enough money in this world to get my kids to eat tofu. Which I understand, since I don't care for it much. I do like the miso soup, as long as I don't get a big boogery hunk of tofu. ;)

Yay! I'm just getting caught up on my blog reading. How fun! SO glad that you've found some new loves--and healthy ones too! Chersten is right--miso soup is SO yummy when you throw a bunch of stuff in. Sometimes I make miso soup to use up whatever is getting overly ripe produce wise. Mmmmm...maybe we'll be having miso soup for dinner...
