One day at a time...

January is a long month around these parts, not only is it cold (so very cold) but preschool happens to take a break in January and most of February, so cold outside + no preschool= a crazy mom. I need to come up with activities for my bored 4 year old and quick! When I can find an activity that is free and safe, boy it's a good day. Today when Henry went down for his nap and Maya left for school, it only took about 30 seconds for Harrison to whine "MOM, I'm bored!!" I told Harrison to get his snow gear on and meet me in the kitchen. I pulled out a squirt bottle and my food coloring and let Harrison dictate which kind of color to make (he's bossy like that). Then I sent him outside with a spray bottle full of colored water and a huge grin on his face.... his only instruction? Make a mess Harrison!

That? He can handle.

It took about 4 seconds for him to realize the water was coming out way too slow with the spray nozzle, off it went (to be found in the spring)

Much more fun this way! The only problem? I had to refill it about 80 times.

Then he asked for an ice cream scoop and a bowl.

I made you something mom!

The activity was a success! He lasted a full hour outside, dumping, mixing, scooping.... I didn't even mind wiping up the floor from the 80 trips inside to refill the spray bottle.

Buy a box of bandaids at the dollar store, that will buy you about 30 minutes. Harrison is growing up so fast.
