Quiet time

These long summer days are hard for a mom that is accustom to some structure! We're still figuring out the summer routine here and though fun, the days tend to drag now that I don't have a napper to break the day up. I feel like I need to provide entertainment/activities for 12 hours a day, no easy feat with a limited budget and kids that get bored easily. So I'm instituting a mandatory 1 hour quiet time every afternoon, the kids can choose reading, a video (remember we have no cable!) worksheets or a quiet game.  This bit of peace is essential if I want to keep my sanity around here! So far... it's been working out just fine, and it seems like the kids are enjoying some quiet time together.

Quiet time is essential! I think I enforced quiet time from 1 to 3. A Mother needs it! Candise was about 11 and I'm sure feeling quite grown up. She asked me how long did we have to have quiet time. I told her that when she left for college she could decide if she wanted it or not!
I love the picture of the kids--love the look on Henry's face!

When mine were little, we did the same thing. And not only is it good for Mom, I think it's good for kids.

Mom and Dad and the children "took to the books" He couldn't say enough good about the results

Great idea. It may help with staying quiet in church too. :)
