Over the weekend I found myself in Salt Lake for a whirlwind 2 day trip to witness the sealing of my niece Eliza Jane to her parents in the LDS temple. Unfortunately, I don't have pictures of that event, but here are some other highlights...
Bianca is just a few months older than Henry, boy is she cute! Ok, she was cranky most of the weekend, but a dislocated elbow will do that to you... Read Jill's account of the elbow here.
All my siblings except Max, who is serving a mission for the LDS church. Here my dad has just received a Sliver Beaver award, it's the highest Scouting award offered, he has dedicated a lifetime of service to scouting, it's only fitting that he would be awarded this honor. Congratulations Dad!
Visiting with my Sweet Grammy, I miss her every day.
My dear mom, what a woman, she's had more than her share of medical trials, but she put on a smile and had a great weekend despite her pain.
My mom had the largest basil plant I had ever seen, it had huge gorgeous leaves on it, she also had a garden full of ripe juicy tomatoes, how could I not make ensalada caprese?
My brother Paul, sorry ladies, he's taken...
A rare moment of down time between events, my sister in law Kaytie is 20 weeks pregnant and deserved a break to put her feet up.
Other highlights include:
*Finding out how easy it really is to take the train to the airport, no more sitting in traffic hoping I don't miss my flight.
*Reading on the airplane instead of wrestling a 16 month old. AMEN on that one.
*Eating fresh caught halibut and spotted shrimp, my dad returned from an Alaskan fishing trip the day I arrived, so we had some delicious seafood. I'm thoroughly spoiled now and don't think I can eat shrimp from Sams Club again. Boo for that.
*Staying up until 2 and 3 AM laughing with my sisters.
*Sitting in the middle of the entire Chicago Fire soccer team on the flight home. Ok, that really wasn't a highlight, but pretty cool anyway.
*Arriving home to my 3 kids, anxious to hug and kiss Mama.
*Buying a 5lb brick of caramel for my traditional chocolate covered caramel pretzel sticks.
Some lowlights...
*Finding out that a 5lb brick of caramel in my carry on suitcase looks suspiciously like plastic explosives to the TSA agent at the airport. I was patted down rather thoroughly.
*Poor Bianca's dislocated elbow. Ouch!!
* Waking up at 5am to catch a flight. Ugh.
*Tadd forgetting to get Maya from the bus, the neighbor brought her home.
*Missing a surprise 30th birthday party for my brother in law Rob (see previous post!)
Overall? I was so glad I went!! Thanks for hosting Mom, I had a great time.
