Compromise

Maya happened upon some blue fingernail polish this afternoon, due to the somewhat masculine color, Harrison was convinced it was meant for him and all but insisted I paint his fingernails. I tried to explain that boys don't usually paint their nails (of course, we've all seen exceptions to this social norm, but for my 3 year old? I prefer to keep it basic). I compromised by allowing him to paint my toenails. Confident of my victory, I went in the house to check on napping Henry and came back to find this:

I'll just keep telling myself that with Harrison? I pick my battles.... and washable blue fingernail polish isn't one of them.

We can't wait to come see you. I think I'm most excited to see Harrison in action.

This is classic. I can't count the number of times Adam was forced to play dress up with Erica and I--or the times we practiced putting makeup on him. Poor boy.

Sorry about that. I feel largely to blame for that battle and defeat.
