Frosting makes everything better

This week I was chatting with my mom and she gave me some very sage advice, in fact it was so profound, I feel like I need to share it with my blog friends. She said:

"Glaze is for wimps, why would you even waste your time with a glaze?  Just use frosting"

And how right she is....

Just look at these poor, boring, healthy whole wheat cinnamon rolls. They practically BEG for a thick layer of rich, delicious frosting, don't they?

Queen Maya volunteered to put her royal duties on hold for a moment to taste test my frosting. She proclaimed it edible, and in fact, delectable.

Now for the cinnamon roll, yes, whole wheat cinnamon rolls are in fact delicious when spread with a thick layer of frosting.

Harrison agrees.

And since I'm sure you all want the recipe for my delicious so-easy-a-preschooler-can-do-it frosting, here it is....

Almond frosting

4T butter, room temperature
2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup heavy whipping cream (you could use milk, but why?)
1/2 tsp. almond extract- this is not optional!

Beat all ingredients together with an electric mixer (maybe the preschooler needs help with this part) it should be very creamy and light, if it's too wet, add more sugar, too dry, add more cream. Enjoy! This is also good on sugar cookies or graham cracker sandwiches.

Those look so delicious and delectable. I want your whole wheat cinnamon roll recipe. I can't wait to try the whipping cream instead of milk in the frosting.

They do look delicious!! I also have a killer caramel frosting that goes great on cinnamon rolls!
Melt 2/3 cup butter, add 1 cup brown sugar and cook for 2 minutes. Add 1/3 cup milk and bring to a boil stirring constantly. Cool 10 minutes and beat in 3 cups powdered sugar. Generoulsy frost cinnamon rolls!
