Since yesterday was really all about Maya, I told her she could pick her very favorite restaurant and we could meet Tadd for lunch. I already knew what she would choose, but I didn't sway her decision one iota. Of course she picked her favorite Japanese place, since it's a little on the pricy side, we try to save it for "special occasions" and this was a special occasion if there ever was one.

She looks all annoyed because I asked her to please not eat that bite of tofu until I could take her picture, she was sooo hungry!~ And yes, my 5 year old (and 3 year old) can eat with chopsticks, but I had to ask the waiter to bring a fork for me!
Since the dessert selection at our Japanese place is a bit void in the chocolate department, I made some cupcakes for Maya when we got home. These are dark chocolate cupcakes with homemade mint buttercream frosting topped with dark chocolate ganache. She was in heaven. Her favorite dessert is anything chocolate and mint, so these cupcakes were a no brainer.... Sheesh, I wish it wasn't a whole year until her next birthday, I could repeat that meal anytime!

Hmmm... tofu? You are a good Mom that your kids like it, ask mine if they have ever tasted it, no way, seen it, no wait, know what it is.... ya. not so much.
Those cupcakes look quite delish--that young lady has good taste!
